Layton Larder has recently reached a lovely milestone— 5,000 meals provided through their recipe packs in their first year.
For £3, people can pick up a pack that makes four meal portions, with the ingredients and an easy recipe included. The packs sit alongside the Surplus Food Stall, where they also share good-quality food that would otherwise go to waste.
One of the nicest things to see has been young volunteers getting involved and becoming a real part of the team— helping to set up, serving customers and chatting with people as they come in.
The Larder has been supported by funding from several different sources, together with the support of volunteers, partners and the local community.
For Layton Methodist, this is part of trying to support people in a practical way — helping food go further, offering a warm welcome and treating everyone with dignity.
Layton are grateful to everyone who has played a part in helping them reach 5,000 meals, and they look forward to seeing where the next year takes them.
Layton Larder and the Surplus Food Stall run every Saturday from 10.30am at Layton Methodist, Westcliffe Drive, Blackpool.
