Team

Our team is comprised of both ordained ministers, as well as lay (non-ordained) employees and volunteers. Our volunteers are a core part of enabling the District to work in the way it does.

Each team member brings a wide variety of skills, experiences, and gifts. The District team works collaboratively across our area.

Our senior leaders consist of a District Chair, and two District Secretaries, who each lead one of our three District Hubs:

• Administration and Compliance
• Mission and Leadership
• Ministry and Vocations

Our hubs operate across the whole of the District, enabling its efficient running, and supporting ministry to flourish.

Operating alongside this, we have four Mission Areas (Cumbria, Lancashire, Liverpool Plus and Greater Manchester Plus), which work to provide more localised support to churches and circuits. Each area is led by a Mission Area Lead, who will work collaboratively to foster relationships and promote mission in their area.

The District Policy Committee meets three times a year and consists of our District Trustees. They are our decision-making body and exercise governance within the District. Large decisions are voted on at District Synod, which consists of lay and ordained representation from across the District.

The District Synod meets twice a year, and sets the policy for the District, serving as a link between the national Methodist Church on the one hand, and the circuits and local churches on the other. It has oversight of all District affairs, formulating and promoting policies, through its various officers and committees to assist the mission of the Church, to give inspiration to the leaders in the circuits and to ensure the interrelation of all aspects of the Church’s life throughout the district.

The work of the District is made stronger through our community of churches, ecumenical partners, and all those who connect with us both online and offline.
