This week, our journey towards Christmas begins with a focus on hope—a light that shines in the darkness and guides us forward with faith and anticipation. It can be difficult to hold onto hope; life can often be filled with pain and struggles. It is at such times that the promise of Christ becomes our anchor. Jesus born in a manger brought with him a message of hope.
Hope is not just a passing thought but is a steadfast trust. We sing ‘standing on the promises of God’ or ‘My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.’
Isaiah spoke of this hope when he foretold the coming of the Messiah (Isaiah 9 v2)
During this Advent season, let us open our hearts to the hope that Christ brings. Let us reflect on the ways we can be bearers of hope to those around us. Whether through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or simply being present for someone in need, we can be the instruments of God’s hope in the world.
As we prepare for the birth of our Savior, let us remember that hope is a powerful force that can transform lives. It is a reminder that no matter how dark the night, the dawn is always near. May this Advent season fill our hearts with renewed hope, and may we carry this hope with us into the coming year.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13).
