Last week, there was a major fire in Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria. As a result, the Methodist Church was turned into a Reception Centre. They have played a major part in the support of the community, and share the following prayers as a response.
For any who have been injured:
we pray God’s peace.
For the rescue workers – fire, police, medics:
we pray God’s strength.
For the local community, offering comfort and help:
we pray God’s compassion.
For those who are grieving loss of any kind:
we pray God’s comfort.
For the people of Kirkby Lonsdale and the deep sadness they feel:
we pray God’s light in our lives.
In the midst of the sadness, we give thanks for every sign of the resilience of the human spirit; every act of kindness and compassion; every gesture of sympathy; every offer of help. Be with us, our Lord Jesus, you who bear our sorrows, and in whom nothing can separate us from the love of God.
Amen.
